WHAT WE OFFER

Why recommend Local 157?

NO COLLEGE DEBT

Our apprentices earn while they learn. There’s no tuition, and apprentices begin earning a paycheck on day one.

REAL SKILLS, REAL CAREERS

We provide hands-on training and classroom education that lead to journeyperson status—a respected credential recognized across the U.S.

COMPETITIVE PAY & BENEFITS

Apprentices and journeypersons receive Union wages, healthcare coverage, and retirement benefits.

CAREER GROWTH & ADVANCEMENT

Apprentices who become journeymen can work toward positions like foreman, supervisor, contractor, instructor, or even Union leadership positions.

WHO'S A GOOD FIT

We’ve found that students who excel in our program often have:

  • An interest in construction, welding, mechanics, or engineering

  • Strong work ethic and reliability

  • Comfort with physical, outdoor work

  • Problem-solving skills and a desire to learn

  • A desire to earn while learning a trade

Not every student is meant for a four-year degree. For many, a career in the trades isn’t just an alternative—it’s a better fit.

We believe in creating strong partnerships with schools and career centers. If you’re an educator or counselor looking to bring more opportunities to your students, we’d love to connect.

Let’s work together to help more young people build a stable, successful future—one pipe… one weld… one system, at a time.

UA Local 157 is committed to equal opportunity and nondiscrimination in all programs and activities.
