HOW SOON AFTER I APPLY CAN I EXPECT TO HEAR FROM YOU?

We will contact all applicants each Spring to start the Assessments and Interview process for the upcoming school year to start in the Fall.

HOW SOON CAN I START?

As soon as you are signed up as a member you will be instructed how to register for work. New apprentices are generally signed up at Orientation before Fall classes start. Once signed up as a member and registered for work you are eligible to work for our signatory contractors as soon as work is available.

DOES IT COST ANYTHING?

There is no tuition, you will learn the trade and earn a Technical Certificate and Associate’s Degree from Ivy Tech Community College at no cost to you. There are only Book Fees each year during the apprenticeship.

HOW LONG IS THE

APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM?

Our apprenticeship program is 5 years and covers every aspect of the piping industry, ensuring you graduate with the skills, certifications, and confidence to succeed. As an apprentice you will also earn and income while you learn the skills needed for a successful career in the trades.

WHAT DOES IT PAY?

Our wages are subject to change. Please contact the Local 157 Training Center, at (812) 877-1736, for the current 1st Year Apprentice Hourly Rate. Our wages and benefits package is reviewed every 6 months. Additionally your wage will increase with each year as you progress through the apprenticeship program.

HOW OFTEN ARE CLASSES HELD?

Currently classes are one 10-hour day, every other week. For additional information on specific courses or certifications, and their start dates and availability, please contact the Local 157 Training Center at (812) 877-1736.
